A sink base cabinet must work with the selected sink, countertop cutout, plumbing route and surrounding cabinet run. A sink's advertised width is not enough to confirm the cabinet, and a standard base cabinet should not be substituted simply because its outside width looks similar.
This guide explains how to review current Nerro sink-cabinet products after the sink model and kitchen plan are confirmed. It does not replace the sink manufacturer's installation instructions, countertop fabrication requirements, plumbing review or qualified installation.
Quick answer
Use the sink manufacturer's stated minimum base-cabinet requirement, then compare it with the exact Nerro sink cabinet's outside width, internal opening and product construction. Confirm the mounting method, countertop cutout, faucet, plumbing, disposal or accessories, dishwasher position and adjoining cabinet run before ordering. Do not rely on a universal “sink width plus a few inches” rule.
Sink-cabinet decision map
| Decision | Primary source | Confirm before ordering |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum cabinet size | Sink manufacturer | Exact selected model |
| Cabinet width | Nerro product page | Outside and usable space |
| Mounting and cutout | Sink and countertop documents | Support and fabrication method |
| Plumbing | Confirmed site plan | Supply, drain and accessories |
| Adjacent run | Kitchen plan | Dishwasher, fillers and clearances |
Start with the exact sink model
Record the manufacturer, model number, outside dimensions, bowl arrangement and mounting method before selecting the cabinet. The most important sizing reference is the sink manufacturer's minimum base-cabinet requirement for that exact model. Two sinks with similar advertised widths can have different bowls, rims, clips or support requirements.
Do not calculate the cabinet size from the bowl width alone. An undermount, drop-in or other installation method can change the relationship between the sink, countertop and cabinet. The countertop fabricator and installer should review the cutout and support method before the cabinet order is released.
If the sink has accessories such as a drainboard, workstation ledges or multiple bowls, include their complete dimensions and installation hardware in the review. Product photographs are not a substitute for the current technical document supplied with the sink.
Keep the sink specification sheet with the cabinet plan and mark which dimension controls the decision. For many projects, the required cabinet size is more useful than the overall sink width because it accounts for the mounting hardware and installation method. If the manufacturer publishes different requirements for undermount and top-mount installation, record the method selected for this project rather than mixing values from both options.
Match the sink requirement to the exact cabinet
Nerro currently separates sink cabinets from standard lower cabinets. Review the Painted Sink Cabinets or Euro Sink Cabinets collection that matches the rest of the kitchen. Current listings include several cabinet widths, but availability and specifications should be verified on the selected product page.

The current 36-inch Painted example is listed at 34-1/2 inches high and 23-1/2 inches deep before the door projection, with an open interior intended to accommodate plumbing and under-sink accessories. Treat those values as product-specific information, not as a universal sink-cabinet standard.
A sink cabinet also has sides, doors, hinges and structural parts that reduce usable space compared with its nominal outside width. Have the countertop fabricator and installer confirm that the selected sink, support method and cabinet construction work together. Do not cut or modify the cabinet based only on an online width comparison.
Plan plumbing, faucet and under-sink accessories together
Mark the water supplies, drain location and any planned electrical or accessory requirements on the confirmed plan. The sink bowl, drain assembly, trap, shutoff valves, faucet connections and optional disposal all compete for the same interior space. A product may satisfy the nominal width requirement while creating a conflict below the sink.
- Confirm where the drain exits relative to the sink bowl.
- Allow access to shutoff valves and service connections.
- Check the faucet and any separate dispenser holes against the countertop plan.
- Include a disposal, filtration system or pull-out accessory only after its dimensions are known.
- Keep plumbing and electrical work within the appropriate qualified trade scope.
Plumbing modifications should be decided with the relevant professionals before cabinet installation. Nerro supplies the cabinet product; it does not replace plumbing design, countertop fabrication or installation review.
Check the dishwasher and the full lower cabinet run
The sink position often affects the dishwasher connection and adjacent storage. Confirm the dishwasher opening, door clearance and service route in the same plan. Do not reduce or shift the sink cabinet without recalculating the complete run.
Use the base kitchen cabinet guide to review the surrounding lower cabinets. Add compatible fillers, finished panels and toe kicks where the confirmed plan requires them. The components checklist can help identify finishing parts that are easy to miss.
Also check door and handle movement. A sink cabinet beside a corner, wall or perpendicular run may need planned clearance. The dishwasher door and sink-cabinet doors should be shown open in the review so handle or traffic conflicts can be identified before checkout.
Before measurements are approved, compare the cabinet run at three levels: the cabinet boxes at floor level, the countertop and sink above, and the plumbing or services inside. A layout can appear correct in elevation while a drain route or countertop overhang creates a conflict in plan view. Recording all three layers makes the final review easier for the cabinet installer, countertop fabricator and plumber.

Frequently asked questions
Does a 30-inch sink always fit a 30-inch sink cabinet?
No. Use the selected sink manufacturer's minimum base-cabinet requirement and installation instructions. Advertised sink width alone does not confirm fit.
Can I use a standard base cabinet under a sink?
Use the cabinet type shown in the confirmed plan. Nerro has dedicated sink-cabinet collections, and a standard base cabinet should not be substituted without professional review.
Should I choose the sink or the cabinet first?
They should be coordinated together, but the exact sink specifications are required before the cabinet match can be confirmed.
Does the sink cabinet include plumbing or a sink?
No. The cabinet listing covers the cabinet components identified on the product page. The sink, plumbing, countertop work and installation are separate project items.
Can Nerro confirm my countertop cutout?
The cutout and support method should be confirmed by the sink manufacturer, countertop fabricator and qualified installer using the selected products and site conditions.
